POV Bar atop the W Hotel- best place to take out-of-towners

Ray’s the Steaks- JM’s family favorite

Bobby Van’s Steakhouse- best steak we’ve had!

Jay’s Saloon- best dive bar (try the nachos!)

Restaurant 3- great brunch spot (the chicken and waffles are divine)

The Italian Store- best pizza in the DC metro area by far!

Paolo’s Ristorante- great people watching, request the seats by the front windows.

Garrett’s- unpretentious upstairs bar in Georgetown

Bullfeathers- JM spends a lot of time after work at this Capitol Hill establishment

Cantina Marina- favorite summer happy hour

Bistrot Lepic- our favorite wine bar
The Inn at Little Washington- Best place to propose!
Liberty Tavern- great Thursday night happy hour.

Kitchen Essentials

Good Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Romano cheese (a block, please don’t by that fake crumbly stuff!)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Penne or Rotini and spaghetti
Garlic
Vidalia or Yellow onion
